Who are we & What we do
Indian Chess School, based in Pondicherry, offers fun and engaging chess training for beginners and intermediate players across all age groups. Started by Veeran Rajendiran, a chess lover with over five years of teaching experience, the academy focuses on helping students build a strong foundation and develop a love for the game.
We currently work with 20+ schools and institutions and have engaged with 110+ students from India, Singapore, the USA, the UK, and Africa since formally starting in 2020.
Whether a child is just starting out or looking to advance in their skills, we aim to support every student in their unique chess journey with a structured and enjoyable goal based learning experience.

I have turned a long-time passion for chess into a full time profession chess coaching and writing. As a player, I have had a peak online rating of 2261. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of training more than fifty students at beginner and intermediate levels through Indian School of Chess. My approach blends structured learning, personalized coaching, and an persistence to bring out the best in every student. Our mission is to nurture talent and promote the game through structured learning and community-driven events.
