Player Description:
In the quiet town of Truro, Cornwall, a young boy sat across a chessboard at the age of six, taught by his father, Bill Adams. That boy was Michael Adams, and little did the world know, he would become one of the most enduring and admired grandmasters in modern chess. By 15, Adams was already Britain’s youngest-ever International Master. At 17, he achieved the Grandmaster title, one of the youngest in the world at the time.
He wasn’t a flashy tactician, but a cold, calculating strategist. A chess player who didn't overwhelm his opponents, but outlasted them. Nicknamed “Mickey”, Adams is a symbol of consistency, a master of quiet domination, and the positional rock of English chess for over three decades. His methodical, no-frills approach to the game earned him a place among the top 4 in the world and made him a model of precision and patience for generations to come.
